Startup Life
A downloadable game for Windows and Linux
StartupLife drops you on a soldering bench in a bedroom with five dollars of personal savings and a blank pre-order page, and asks how far you can push a hardware company before your body, your bank account, or your board gives out.
Every week the game hands you one procedurally generated situation and one hard choice, and whatever you pick visibly rewrites your cash, your runway, your morale, and your name in the tech press.
The genius is the dev-point economy: solving a problem properly spends your limited engineering capacity, while deferring it banks capacity you'll need for the next crisis, so you're always deciding what to fix and what to let burn.
From the bench you climb six stages prototyping, launch, hardware growth, scale-up, pre-IPO, and public listing through supplier shortages, defect waves, funding rounds, layoffs, and buyout offers, chasing an IPO or an acquisition while insolvency, founder burnout, and a board ouster wait to end the run.
